I. Alignment and Calibration: Preventing Off-center Loading and Premature Wear
The primary task after installing a new chrome-plated rod is to align its axis, ensuring it remains concentric with the cylinder, guide sleeve, and load direction.
Use a laser alignment instrument or dial indicator to check the runout of the shaft along its entire length. Generally, radial runout should not exceed 0.05mm per meter.
If off-center alignment is found, check if the mounting base and end cap bolts are tightened evenly. If necessary, readjust the support structure.
For high-precision equipment (such as CNC machine tools), it is recommended to use an adjustable bracket to fine-tune the position and ensure the straightness of the movement trajectory.
II. Sealing Performance Test: Verifying Leakage Prevention
Sealing failure is the most common problem after replacement and must be verified in multiple stages:
1. Static Pressure Test
Pressure to 1.2 times the rated pressure in a non-operating state, hold the pressure for 30 minutes, and observe for oil seepage or dripping at the seal.
2. Dynamic Operation Test: Perform low-speed reciprocating motion 5-10 times to check if the seals are aging due to frictional heat or if improper assembly has caused flanges or extrusion.
3. High-Temperature Simulation Test (Optional): For equipment operating in high-temperature conditions, check the sealing condition again after heating to the operating temperature to prevent gap changes caused by thermal expansion.
✅ Special Reminder: Do not apply grease containing acidic components when installing new sealing rings to avoid corroding the chrome plating surface.
III. Operational Stability Adjustment: Ensuring Smooth Movement: Perform full-stroke reciprocating motion under no-load conditions and observe for any jamming, vibration, or abnormal noise.
Measure the friction force change curve. If the resistance fluctuation exceeds ±15%, it indicates uneven surface roughness or an overly tight guide sleeve fit.
Adjust the hydraulic system throttle valve to control the initial speed slowly to avoid impact loads damaging the new plating.
IV. Environmental Adaptability Check: Improving Durability: In humid or corrosive environments, confirm that the chrome plating rod surface has no exposed substrate or scratches. If necessary, apply a rust-preventive oil film.
Check that the dust seal is installed correctly to prevent dust and particles from entering moving parts and causing secondary damage.
For outdoor equipment, it is recommended to install a protective cover during downtime to reduce the risk of rain and salt spray corrosion.
V. Gradual Loading: Verifying Adaptability to Actual Operating Conditions
Direct full-load operation is strictly prohibited. Pressure should be gradually increased according to the following steps:
Run at 30% load for 1 hour, monitoring temperature and vibration;
Run at 60% load for 2 hours, checking the seal and movement status;
Run at 100% load for at least 8 hours, recording operating data. Only after confirming there are no abnormalities can the equipment be put into formal use.
VI. Recording and Archiving: Establishing a Maintenance Traceability Mechanism
Register the replacement date, new part specifications, manufacturer, installer, and commissioning results.
Save alignment data, pressure test curves, and seal inspection photos for subsequent life analysis and troubleshooting.
